The Star Swing

Osaka

Hoshi no Buranko, or the Swing of the Stars, is the nickname of the Katanowooden suspension bridge, one of the largest suspension bridges in Japan. It is located in the Osaka Prefectural Forest.

Its nickname is due to its connection with the Tanabata festival. The star-crossed lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, were allowed to meet once a year on a bridge of stars, the legend saying that their first meeting was in this very city.

Because of this, Katano is known as the City of Stars. The view from this bridge allows visitors to see well across the forest so that they can enjoy Japan’s beautiful nature.
