Amanohashidate

Kyoto

Amanohashidate is an attraction located in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, and is considered one of the three most beautiful places in Japan. Its name comes from the sandbars that span the sea and look like bridges.

This landscape is formed by a 3.2-kilometer-long sandbar connecting the Shimane Peninsula and the Tango Peninsula, where visitors can enjoy swimming, walking, and sightseeing. In addition, there are various places of interest around Amanohashidate, attracting visitors with beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons. Amanohashidate Viewland is especially famous for its “crotch peeking,” where one looks through their legs at the sandbar, which makes it look like a dragon soaring into the sky. If you climb up to the viewland, do not forget to experience this unique view.

If you like wine, you should not miss the Amanohashidate Winery. The wine “Federlota” made from Amanohashidate grapes is a precious drink that you can only drink here, where you can taste the moment when the grapes are transformed from juice to wine. The ability to taste the wine is also a major draw for tourists.
